At the April 3 Democratic Committee meeting, the South River Democratic Organization was proud to announce this year’s Council Candidates.
“This year, we chose some fresh faces to join our team on the dais,” said Tele Koukourdelis, Chairman of the South River Democratic Organization. “They bring a different perspective that will complement Councilmen/woman Haussermann, Jones, Alai and Meira.”
The decision came after screening several candidates who expressed interest.
Sandra Adelino is a Research Analyst for the Laborers’ Eastern Region Organizing Fund. She looks forward to using her expertise and her experience as a lifelong Borough resident to introduce improvements to the town, such as calling for more accountability in Borough operations — something she feels strongly about. She is a member of the South River Portuguese Club, attends Corpus Christi Church in South River, and has a son graduating from South River High School this spring. She is also involved in several organizations in town, including co-chairing the new Borough Communications Committee and serving as treasurer to Spaces Reimagined.
Ruell Brown brings a passion and aptitude for technology to the campaign. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and a Software Engineer for Major League Baseball. As a U.S. Army veteran with two tours in Iraq, he is a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion and would like to advocate on behalf of veterans for services and programs. He also currently serves as a member of TV35, volunteering to help record various meetings and events in town. He is also member of South River’s Green Team, working to obtain borough certification through the Sustainable Jersey program.
“We need a team committed to curbing spending and improving the quality of life for all our residents,” states Chairman Koukourdelis. “We’re confident Adelino and Brown will be a great addition to the dais and leave South River better for future generations.”
