Roads and other infrastructure projects are going strong under new administration.
For the first time since 2014, roads are being paved to make your travels through the town safer and smoother. And not only roads, but other projects are either completed or underway to make the quality of life better for our residents.
Montgomery Street, one of the most travelled streets in the Borough, was recently completed. This road was in terrible shape, making the journey to drop off children at the schools a rough trip every day. Now the entire length from Johnson Place to Morningside Avenue is brand new, with smooth new pavement, bright new crosswalks with handicapped access, and even additional parking spaces! Working with the School Board and at their request, a new sidewalk was installed along the Morningside Avenue side of the High School property, providing children walking to school a safe, tree-lined walkway.
Soon to be paved, with assistance from the Middlesex County Road Department, are Brook Street, a portion of Jeffrie Avenue, and the length of George Street from Wilcox Ave to Thomas Street. With the savings provided by the County, the Borough is looking to do even more streets this year. An upcoming report from the Borough Engineer will provide a list of street sections that can be approved with currently budgeted funds.
Improvements to our Parks have also begun, beginning with work done at a baseball field at Varga Park on William Street. The field was renovated from an almost unusable condition to a multiple use field. Now programs for children’s teams of various ages can use the field, making it a valued asset to our parks and recreation programs.
